The inspiration for the Andrea Collection is the era of the first luxury liners crossing the oceans for the purposes of leisure travel. This is the era not of the sleek Art Deco style Normandy, but of the magnificent liners that started the trend in leisure travel; those of the White Star and Canard lines, the Aquitnania and the Coronia. The furniture was clean lined and elegant but not yet Art Deco, however some of those elements are just starting to show in the designs for Andrea.
The Two Pier dining table reflects the grandeur and elegance of the ship’s captain’s table. As we all know, being asked to dine there was the ultimate compliment aboard ship. The roomy upholstered dining chair has not only the elegance to compliment either of the Stateroom dining tables, but also the comfort to encourage the diner to linger long after dinner and watch the moon float by on the open sea. The Roman detail is one that is repeated from time to time in several of the pieces and was a popular motif of the era.
